Cultural Intelligence, CQ

I define cultural intelligence - or CQ - as the ability to work efficiently across cultures – something that is increasingly important in organisations

In my work with culture, I focus on first creating a space of trust where we approach the process with good intentions and curiosity about how our own culture is perceived by others.

I invite participants to explore the values, assumptions, and norms that shape behavior within a particular culture.

The goal is to develop a shared language and create a trusting environment where experiences with culture can be openly shared.

WHY IS CULTURAL INTELIGENCE IMPORTANT?

Research shows that if culture is managed intelligently in diverse teams, these will outperform homogenous teams, by being more innovative, creative and productive. However, if culture is not managed, the diversity can impact performance negatively. Often because the diversity then sparks mistrust, misunderstanding and misalignment.

For more than 20 years, I have assisted clients in enhancing the level of cultural intelligence.

This work can be done using the Lego Serious Play method.

Her approach emphasizes fostering an environment of trust, where good intentions and a genuine curiosity about how one's culture is perceived by others are paramount. In her work, Marisa has provided us with a common language and a safe space with a touch of humor bringing her personal experience into play to exchange cultural experiences significantly reducing misunderstandings and conflicts."
